Common questions

Which iPhones answer questions on the device?

Models that support Apple Intelligence. On those, plain-language questions are answered by the system's on-device model and no network request is made. On every other supported iPhone, a solver built into the app answers the everyday questions offline, and only what it cannot parse is sent to an AI service. You do not have to choose or configure anything.

It says the assistant has reached today's limit.

The hosted service has a daily allowance. It resets the next day. In the meantime the built-in solver still handles tips, splits, discounts, tax, percentages, interest, loan repayments and unit conversions — and the keypad, converter and history never depended on it.

Does it work without a connection?

The keypad, scientific functions, history, named values and all unit conversions are fully offline. Currency needs a connection the first time to fetch rates, after which they are kept on the device. Plain-language questions are offline on Apple Intelligence hardware, and offline for the common shapes everywhere else.

How do I name a value?

With a hardware keyboard, type tax = 8.5 and press Return. On iPhone, get the number on screen then long-press the display and choose Save as value. Afterwards you can type that name into any calculation. Manage them from the tag button in the header.

Where do the currency rates come from, and how current are they?

Daily reference rates, refreshed once a day when a newer set has been published. The source and its publication date are shown on screen whenever a converted amount is. These are reference rates, not the rate a bank or card will give you — there is a spread on top.

How do I add the widget?

Long-press an empty part of your Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap the add button, search for MSRX AI Calculator and choose a size. There is also a Control Centre button: edit Control Centre, add a control and pick Calculate.

How do I use it with Siri?

Say "Calculate with MSRX AI Calculator", or find the actions in the Shortcuts app under Calculate, Convert units and Last result.

How do I clear my history?

Open History, tap the menu at the top left, then Clear unpinned or Clear everything. Pinned entries are kept by Clear unpinned because pinning is a deliberate keep. Clearing is permanent — history is stored only on your device, so there is no copy to restore from.

Can I get my calculations out of the app?

Yes. In History, open the menu and choose Export — you get the tape as a PDF, laid out like a printed roll. You can also long-press the display to copy the result or the whole tape as text.

The microphone button does nothing.

Dictation needs microphone and speech recognition permission. Check Settings › MSRX AI Calculator. Everything else works without it.

Reporting a wrong answer

If a calculation looks wrong, please send the exact text you typed and what you expected. Every displayed figure is produced by the app's own expression parser, so a wrong number is a bug worth fixing rather than a model being vague — and a precise example is usually enough to find it.
