A security review that tells you what it could not see. Every finding names the evidence behind it, the score only counts what was actually measured, and nothing ever leaves your computer.
Previously released as OrionShield. Same app, new name.
What it looks at
The programs that ask to run when you sign in, with the signature on each one read and reported. One whose signature could not be read is reported as unreadable, never as unsigned — those are different facts.
Thirteen questions about what is already built into your computer. Three are answered from inside the sandbox, six more if you hand the app one named file, and four cannot be answered on any terms — those say so, with the reason and where to look yourself.
Warning signs in the places the app can reach, ranked by how strong the evidence is — and what appeared, went away or stayed since your last review. Every review is kept and compared, not replaced.
Everything in the shared applications folder with the developer team that signed it. The ones carrying no signature, or one identifying nobody, are listed first.
Off until you turn it on. When on, it checks what you copy for card numbers, keys and passwords worth not leaving lying around. Nothing copied is stored or sent.
Summaries of your review are written on your own computer, and you can ask questions in your own words. Nothing you type is saved or sent. Every sentence is labelled with which system wrote it.
What it will not do
It runs in a sandbox and most of the disk is out of reach, so every screen states what it could and could not see. An unanswered question you know how to answer yourself is worth more than a green tick you cannot check.
The score starts at 100 and only loses points for things that were actually observed. The arithmetic is printed underneath it — every deduction with its count and its cost — so the number can be added up by hand.
This app reports signals, never verdicts. A signature says who took responsibility for a program, not whether the program is good, and a review of this kind cannot support a claim that your computer is secure or that it is not.
No red banner, no countdown, no urgency. A tool that shouts trains you to stop listening.
Nothing leaves your computer
There is no networking code in this app at all. No analytics, no crash reporter, no account, no upload. That is a fact about the binary rather than a promise in a policy — the App Store privacy label reads Data Not Collected because there is nothing there to collect with.
